This workshop, run by felt artist Claire Priestley (member of Network Artists North East) is perfect for beginners or those wishing to refine their felting skills. During the afternoon you will create an illuminated felt lantern using wet felted techniques. The lantern will be created using fine merino wool and decorated with mulberry silk and sari silk. These additional fibres show up in silhouette when the lanterns are illuminated with an electric candle light.
You will be given full small group tuition and have the opportunity to use a wide variety of wool, fibres, textures and colours to add interest and enhance your work. This project uses resist techniques which can be extended to create handbags, bowls and sculpture.
All materials, tuition and light refreshments are provided.
